How to get paid to exist

There is nothing sexier than other people literally throwing money at you just for waking up in the morning and being you

After 2 years of existential crises, living off my 401k investments, borrowing money from friends, I can say that I have finally reached this marker of success. I am now getting paid well for just being me.

And I can honestly say this has been the best journey I’ve been on in my entire life. 

Even the challenges, have helped me double down on my belief in my self and reach a new level of strength that I didn’t know was possible for me

Instead of stressing about wording a professional email without it coming off as “too much” I worry about how to make my business more ethical and how to ensure even better results for my clients

That alone feels infinitely rewarding.

So how did we get here? It’s impossible for me to condense EVERY step into a single email, however, I will share the three phases of this growth, and if this sounds exciting for you, my REBEL runway helps you create your own “you” year which is a targeted commitment to help bring you closer to your “life’s work” 

The first phase I went through was understanding what exactly I was good at, what I wanted to do for this phase of my life’s work, what I needed from my relationship to work and what values were important to me. 

Now when I coach clients through this stage, I encourage them to hold two truths: 

“Only create a business if you have something to say” 

And

“Everyone has something to say with their life, if you carve the time out for yourself to listen to yourself” 

This is the most important step because while I can do any type of work, having my work mean something is the super power jet fuel I need many days to reach my goals. 

Standing for something helped me get up when the waves and tides of early business ownership crashed down on me. 

And the clearer I got on what I stood for, the easier it has been for me to greet these waves of change with excitement and curiosity 

The second phase was all about conditioning my nervous system to feel excited to dance out of my comfort zone instead of being paralyzed by fear and perfectionism 

Your life’s work is going to challenge you because it is the work that is meant to grow with you while facilitating your growth. '

The thing is, when you’re working for someone else, that company/organization is the facilitator of that growth and more often than not our workspaces launch us into the deep end of a pool with a single water wing with zero communication and a lot of expectations.

Working for yourself, you become the launcher into new and different experiences.

But you have to undo that muck of urgency, high expectations, low risk tolerances, and under developing yourself that people learn from traditional work environments. 

 You learn to become a partner with your nervous system. This means: 

→ Allowing dysregulation to be your creative momentum and fuel 

→ Not allowing dysregulation to stop you from doing hard things and creating a safe container for your nervous system so you avoid “upper limiting” 

→ Becoming a good steward of your own energy (creating boundaries when you’re being challenged to move beyond your capacity, investing in yourself and your inspiration so you can always have fuel. 

And the final phase is the one that everyone hyper-fixates on but they get it wrong because they don’t prioritize the first few phases so they wonder why “their business is FAILING” and that is… strategy 

Your business strategy is a result of you understanding what works for you as you expand your skill sets and deepen your understanding of your values  

Most people hop on trends because XYZ person on tiktok makes 6 figures a month, looks edgy, and says she can do the same for me and while many influencers can give you tactics, your strategy is something that must be embodied. 

This embodiment can only happen after you develop new skills and feel comfortable with those new skillsets. It can only happen when you’re clear on what you stand for first and foremost.

Remember, you’re learning marketing, sales, finances, and a plethora of other roles to be able to “get paid to exist” and then you’re making all of these skill sets your own.
